Manager, Engineering

The Engineering Manager position is responsible for managing all activities of the engineering department including directing department activities, through subordinates, to design new products, modify existing designs, improve production techniques, and develop test procedures. Primarily accountable for conferring with management, production staff to establish engineering feasibility, cost effectiveness. Additional responsibilities include forecasting operating costs of department and direct preparation of budget requests.

Performance Expectations

Act as the main customer liaison to ensure their inquiries and requirements are met.

To serve as a central resource for process and project planning.

Direct manufacturing engineering activities and optimize cost of operation by selecting the best process and equipment.

Monitor daily activities and ensure the team functions effectively and efficiently.

Evaluate engineering workload and determine resource requirements.

Oversee cost reduction, and continuous improvement activities.

Oversee project scheduling and tracking, working along side project managers.

Work with production planning, production and quality to ensure all mandatory tools and or documentation necessary for production jobs are available and up to date.

Maintain control of customer drawings and specifications.

Complete production and completion schedules to track process and progress of projects.

Direct and coordinate project teams with various department personnel.

* Developing and executing the projects in the Engineering department which will directly support the company's strategic direction
* To define project scope and schedules, assess technical risk, and drive projects to completion
* Facilitate successful new product integration into the company operations
* Working with our sales team as well as with customers to understand market drivers
* The ability to grow into a subject matter expert on our product base
* Solid knowledge and understanding of AutoCad and SolidWorks.
* Managing the Engineering resources (people & hard assets) effectively
* Providing high-level engineering support to the team (mechanical, software/firmware) - direct experience in all areas is not required but familiarity is an asset
* Ensuring that the Engineering team provides the required levels of manufacturing, operations.
* Working with suppliers (local and abroad) to strengthen and de-risk our supply chain

Qualifications of the Ideal Candidate:

* A bachelors degree in Engineering (ideally Mechanical)
* P-Eng designation is ideal but not required
* Direct experience in a leadership role
* Minimum 10 years of professional experience
* A proven track record in project management and planning experience
* Experience in design & implementation of projects
* *Direct experience working in the architectural\construction industries and the metal fabrication industry.*
* Familiarity with a manufacturing environment, i.e. machinery and processes.
* Ability to lead by example.

Pay: $100,000.00-$120,000.00 per year
