 Every year, 1/3rd of the world's food production is wasted, accounting for 10% of all greenhouse gas emissions. GoNina is a mission-driven climate and food tech start-up located in Zurich that aims to tackle this huge problem. We help restaurants, bakeries & supermarkets reduce their food waste with AI-powered demand forecasts and a platform that turns surplus food into sales.
 



  





The role

 Our flagship product is our high-precision demand forecastin solution, which helps vendors to better plan ahead and reduce food waste before it is created. As a Lead Machine Learning / Data Science Engineer, you are an integral part of our team, working closely with the founders and our vendors to drive our mission forward. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced start-up environment and make tangible contributions to our growth and success.
 


* Compensation: fair cash salary for an early-stage startup, plus participation in GoNina’s success via our employee participation programme (PSOP)
* Capacity: full-time (100%)
* Location: Zurich (hybrid: mainly in-person with work-from-home flexibility)

Your responsibilities 
 📈
 


* Advance state-of-the-art machine learning models for time series forecasting to predict consumer demand with precision
* Explore and experiment with new data sources that have an impact on demand
* Integrate diverse internal and external data sources, including Point of Sale (POS) systems, into our forecasting models
* Automate processes such as data cleaning, manipulation, model building, training & optimisation
* Collaborate with the founding team on whatever else arises - every week is full of surprises 🌈



  





Who you are

* Passionate about sustainability, technology, and making a difference in the world
* Strong understanding of modern machine learning and statistical learning techniques for time series forecasting
* Experience working with APIs, automating machine learning models and building multi-tenant systems
* Self-motivated, strong ownership & willingness to take initiative and get your hands dirty in a dynamic start-up environment
* Fluent in English (German is a plus), strong organisational and communication skills
