By creating intelligent and clean solutions for people and the planet Job Description Job Title: Engineer – Product Engineering Railways Reports To: DGM- PD&E Bearings Industrial - PL Railways Role Type: Individual Contribution Location: Bangalore Main Purpose of the Role To carry out all needed activities for the development of TBU and its related components as a part of product engineering activities Carry out all needed activities within the portfolio to achieve exceptional results through – personal effectiveness, partnering with others & building customer loyalty fulfilling their needs in an efficient & effective manner. Key Responsibilities: * Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or industrial engineering stream. * Candidate should be Good with verbal and written communication and must have a casting background. * Location: Bangalore * 4-7 Years of relevant functional work experience, preferably from Railway domain * Being an individual contributor, the position holder is an epitome of “Doing things correctly” & “Right from me”. * Highly motivated & self-initiator with good communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment. * Ability to work within a fast-paced environment with changing priorities. * Ease at dealing with ambiguity in work situations. Take decisions with limited information where necessary and demonstrate confidence in own decisions. * Empower themselves by seeking authority to make decisions within appropriate guidelines. * Recover quickly and learn from setbacks. * Empathy - Understand the wants, needs, and viewpoints of others. Excellent at managing relationships, listening, and relating to others. * Key Competencies Required: * Expertise in Design and Development (1 to 4 years) * Able to design and develop components, assemblies considering application requirement * Knowledge on incorporating manufacturing process methodology * Knowledge on form, fit & functions of a product; * Experience in Metrology & Metallurgical activities; * Knowledge in application of measurement principles for manufacturing & other process * Knowledge on Material behavior properties (Metals. Alloys, castings, Plastics); * Ability to apply DFM & DFA guidelines. * Knowledge in manufacturing process capability. * Basic knowledge of DFMEA * Have basic knowledge on FEA * Understanding of Project Management & its value to the business processes * Expertise in Creo (1 to 4 years) * Ability to develop 3D models from digitized data. * Proficient in advanced Modeling, Assembly and Detailing techniques. * Awareness to Design Automation, Map keys, UDF’s, Pro-Programming, Pro-Toolkit. * Should be expertise in creating templates, Part & Assembly detailing. * Experience in creating Parametric BOM, symbols. * Experience in working with Relations. * Working with resolving failures (Eg.Reorder, redefine, reroute). * Proficiency in using Windchill or Any PLM (1 to 2 Years) * Experience in using Advanced search options. * Association between CAD documents and Product structure ( WT Part, EPM Doc, WT Doc). * Understanding on Lifecycle states and Workflow followed. * Should be aware of attribute descriptions in windchill. * Proficiency in applying GD&T /Geometric Product Specification (GPS) * Good Knowledge on Engineering Drawings Dimension & tolerancing. * Good understanding on usage of datums in GD&T /GPS. * Knowledge on form, fit & functions of a product; * Knowledge on design standards (ASME, DIN, etc). * Good knowledge on Basic rules of tolerance stack up analysis. * Skill to do 2D tolerance stack up analysis for parts. * Knowledge on Materials, Heat treatment & Finishing operation * Material properties (Yield strength, FOS, Ultimate strength, Ultimate strength etc). * Material behavior (static and dynamic conditions). * Basic knowledge on different heat treatment processes and its effects. * Knowledge on material testing methods. * Basic knowledge on coatings and its uses. * Knowledge in handling Engineering Change Management (ECM) process * Key Interfaces & Interactions (Typical): * SKF Specialists (Development Offices & Centers) : Frequently * SKF Internal project & task sponsors : Frequently * Functional Manager: Regularly * GTCI Management : Regularly * Stakeholder Management : Adhoc * External suppliers : Adhoc * External Customers : No * Frequently: Several times in a week Regularly: Weekly Adhoc: Based on need Education: * Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or industrial engineering stream * Interested candidates can share their resume to sharath.kumar.d@skf.com & sindhu.a.s@skf.com About SKF SKF has been around for more than a century and today we are one of the world’s largest global suppliers of bearings and supporting solutions for rotating equipment.
