POSITION DESCRIPTION

In this seasonal position, you will be working with a team of dedicated individuals to produce high quality mountain bike races. The Volunteer Coordinator manages the volunteer sign-in and orientation process. He or she works with the rest of the Core Race Staff to ensure enough volunteers are in key positions. The Volunteer Coordinator often coordinates pre-race volunteer outreach using email. The Volunteer Coordinator sets-up the volunteer booth with the volunteer sign-up roster and other supporting supplies and documents. The volunteer sign-in and orientation processes occur throughout the entire set-up and race day. The Volunteer Coordinator is the face of the League’s race weekend volunteer program and works within the framework of a larger team.

RESPONSIBILITIES/REQUIREMENTS

* Update and Manage Duplie (volunteer management system) as needed
* Manage Priority Pit Zone Placement Data
* Organize volunteer coordinator materials in the volunteer tent
* Welcome volunteers and sign them in
* Show volunteers their post and train volunteers for certain positions
* Work with race event staff to ensure enough volunteers are signed-in and in position
* Help organize volunteers for specific tasks such as venue and course take-down
* Pivot volunteers into new positions as needed
* Prepare volunteer documents for offline use prior to each event.
* Closely monitor volunteer data for tracking used for our incentivisation program.
* Follow compliance with health and safety regulations and rules during events.
* Able to pass a background check
* Ability to travel via car to various venues throughout Northern California.
* Cross support as needed with the Merchandise Manager and Registration Manager (this is minimal to assist with breaks).
* Meet with core staff as needed (usually via Zoom) to improve event logistics following an event.
* Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 40 lbs.

* Experience using Duplie or other volunteer management software

COMMITMENT

* Available Fridays and Saturdays of select weekends
* Must be able to work a minimum of 5 events (option to work more, if desired, based on need)
* Ideal commitment is 2+ seasons
* If possible, also coordinates pre-race volunteer planning (2-4 hours per week) in addition to onsite work. An hourly rate DOE will apply to this work.

COMPENSATION

* This is a contract position that pays a daily rate of $200.
* All meals and lodging are included. (note: some venues we camp at so you will need to provide your own camping gear for sleeping).
