Job Summary  
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Preoperative/Post Anesthesia Registered Nurse (RN) to join our healthcare team for the overnight shift (8pm-6:30am). The Preoperative/Post anesthesia RN is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and coordinating patient care from admission to discharge. The Registered Nurse is responsible for the achievement of patient outcomes through implementation of critical pathways and in accordance with the mission, vision, and values of the facility.

Duties

*Clinical Skills & Abilities:*

* Assess and prioritize patient care effectively.

*Patient Care & Quality Standards:*

* Evaluate, implement, and document patient care to achieve outcomes safely and efficiently, following all facility policies and nursing standards.
* Coordinate and adjust care plans as patient needs change, including in emergencies.
* Participate in quality improvement and care evaluations, assuming leadership roles as needed.

*Age-Specific Competence:*

* Tailor assessments, treatments, and care based on developmental and age-specific needs.
* Conduct thorough assessments, plan and implement patient care aligned with policies, and ensure timely documentation of outcomes.
* Provide safe and appropriate interventions according to the patient’s age and maturity.
* Demonstrate competency in age-specific care, adapting methods to support patient maturity and safety.

*Preoperative Patient Care:*

* Prepare, assess, and admit patients per procedure guidelines, ensuring patient comfort, safety, and understanding of care.
* Monitor patient health, manage medications, and handle emergencies.
* Facilitate surgical and procedural preparations, maintain cleanliness, restock supplies, and ensure the environment promotes safety and infection control.

*Post anesthesia & Discharge Care:*

* Conduct thorough pre- and post-surgical assessments, ensuring patient safety, comfort, and proper documentation.
* Monitor vital signs, manage pain and circulation, and ensure the readiness of equipment.
* Oversee patient discharge, provide clear instructions, and conduct follow-ups to address any postoperative needs.

*Environmental Safety & Infection Control:*

* Maintain a safe, well-prepared environment with all necessary equipment and supplies.
* Implement infection control measures and adhere to protocols that support patient and facility safety.
* Staffing is based on a “Team Work” concept, thus, employees may be cross-trained in other clinical areas and may be expected to perform duties other than those stated above, as staffing and patient needs change
* Communicate clearly with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
* Provide clear direction within the clinical areas and adhere to practice limits and policies.

Qualifications

* Graduate of an accredited nursing program
* Minimum 1 year experience in medical/surgical nursing preferred
* Current nursing license, in good standing with the State licensing board
* Successful completion of Basic Life Support (BLS)/Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) within 90 days of employment or documentation of current BLS/BCLS certification.
* Successful completion of ACLS Course within 90 days of employment or documentation of current ACLS certification.Cognitive skills as related to the position
* Federal-, State- credentials current and on file

* Hepatitis immunization or documented refusal to be vaccinated
* Evidence of negative Mantoux or chest x-ray annually (within the past year)
* Moving, lifting or transferring of patients may involve lifting of up to fifty (100) pounds
* Fine motor skills
* Visual acuity
