(SDH) is a non-profit dental center dedicated to providing access to quality dental care and oral health education to our community. We provide these services with dignity, respect and compassion. SDH improves the health of our community members through culturally sensitive, integrated care, with a focus on disease prevention. SDH is a dental home for our patients, providing preventative dental care, mobile dental, general dentistry, geriatric dentistry, pediatric dentistry, sedation dentistry and accommodations for patients with special needs and disabilities. Seventy percent of SDH’s patients are low-income. Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to join our finance team. The Senior Accountant performs a variety of professional accounting work requiring a strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). They manage the full cycle of accounting which includes accounts payable and receivable functions; revenue recognition; makes general journal entries as needed; analyzes and reconciles general ledger accounts; prepares the monthly financial statements; and assists in the development of financial policy and procedures. They will prepare financial reports in partnership with the CFO for the Board of Directors, and work with the leadership team in carrying out strategic initiatives and special projects and advise on operational activities. Education/Experience/Licensure: * BA/BS in Accounting * Three (3) years of accounting experience including previous work in the areas of general ledger accounting and accounts payable and receivable; non-profit and dental office accounting experience a plus * Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) * Strong Excel skills and familiarity with Intacct * Ability to analyze, post, balance, and reconcile accounting records and financial statements; research and analyze fiscal and statistical data; utilize problem-solving skills; maintain and verify accuracy of financial data and information. * Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively; establish and maintain positive, cooperative, and effective working relationship with staff, vendors, Board members, Board committee members, auditors, state agency personnel, consultants, tenants, and District team members. * Attention to detail, excellent time management, organizational skills, and meet deadlines. * Knowledge of patient revenue and fundraising non-profit business preferred. Essential Functions * Accounts payable – Check appropriate approvals on invoice, input invoices, maintain accounts payable files, handle vendor inquiries, process check run. Review monthly accounts payable aging to ensure all vendor invoices are paid on a timely basis * Accounts receivable – Enter deposits, reconcile patient revenue deposits to bank, reconcile merchant account activities * Revenue recognition – Enter and reconcile Open Dental revenue by payor type to Intacct * Payroll – Enter bi-weekly payrolls and ensure quarterly tax payments are accurate and reporting are timely * General Journals – Prepare journal entries as needed. Maintain and reconcile ledger accounts to ensure financial integrity * Month-end close – Prepare monthly bank reconciliation, balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports as needed. * Maintain accurate accounting between Departments * Responsible for monthly entries and releases such as prepaid and depreciation. Track and report on various grant fund releases * Oversee reconciliation of company credit cards and ensure appropriate receipts are attached * Assist in annual audit process and related tax filings; prepare audit schedules at year end. * Monitor cash flow of all bank and investment accounts.
