We have a great opportunity for a Graduate Civil Engineer to join our leading-edge 2 Year Graduate development programme starting in September 2025.

About The Project
 CMDP is a joint venture between Costain and MWH Treatment. CMDP+ have secured a new AMP8 Capital Programme. The Strategic Delivery Partner Framework Agreement with Southern Water for Water supply and wastewater treatment work in the eastern half its region (Kent & Sussex). This represents continuation of the successful joint venture between Costain and MWH Treatment.
   

  

 Between 2025-2030 CMDP+ will deliver critical investment to Water and Wastewater infrastructure across the region including upgrades to Water and Wastewater Treatment Works, Pumping Stations and Reservoirs
   

  

Key Tasks & Responsibilities
 As a Graduate Civil Engineer, you will be responsible for a key element of work on a project taking a significant role in technical delivery. In addition, you will have the responsibility of managing all aspects of time, cost and quality and will acquire technical, leadership and project management skills and experience. This will include undertaking the following tasks:
   

  

* Supervising and managing construction activities from start to finish, ensuring adherence to project plans, drawings and specifications.
* Planning and sequencing of operations, including writing Method Statements and updating the Safe Systems of Work for our Contractor and Sub-Contractor Works, ensuring compliance of approval dates and information accuracy.
* Implementing operational quality control including setting out and QA processes
* Commercial management including reporting project updates and potential risks to the wider team.
* Design and Design management
* Analysing and interpreting engineering drawings, survey reports and other technical documentation to guide the construction process.
* Ensure all aspects of the project align with engineering and design specifications, industry standards and construction regulations.
* Coordinate the procurement and delivery of construction materials and equipment, ensuring their compliance with industry standards.
* Identifying potential risks and implementing preventive measures to minimise project delays, cost overruns and safety hazards.

Costain Graduate Development Programme
 Our programme will focus on helping individual to learn a mix of both Leadership and Technical skills.
   

  

 We offer a structured training programme to enable graduates to work towards achieving Chartership in their chosen field.
   

  

 Graduates may also have the opportunity, after the first 8 – 10 months to rotate and to work on a number of exciting and progressive projects around the UK during the 2-year period, experiencing the best we have to offer across the different sectors we work in.
   

  

 Our line managers are fully supportive of the Graduate Development Programme and will be involved in helping you along the way.
   

  

About You:
* A Civil Engineering Degree with at least 2:2 or above
* IT proficient (Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD and other software)
* A good working knowledge of construction methods, materials and regulations.
* Excellent organisation, communication, and time management skills.
* A willingness to learn and take on new challenges.
* Have passion for Costain's Carbon Net Zero targets.
* A willingness to learn with appropriate instruction
* Excel at building and maintaining positive relationships
* The ability to thrive in time sensitive situations
* Excellent organisation, communication, and time management skills
* Mobility to work on various projects over the 2-year programme throughout the UK if required


Extra Information 
 Please note that for some of our roles, and to rotate around the business as part of the Graduate scheme, you may be required to obtain and maintain security clearance of at least Security Check level. For this you will need to have been a legal U.K. resident for a minimum of 5 years and be able to successfully complete the vetting process.
