About TuCha 

TuCha is a boba and Asian dessert shop, with its flagship store opening in Koreatown, Los Angeles in early 2025. Our focus is on offering high-quality products with a creative and innovative edge. We collaborate with Catherine Zhang (@catherine.desserts), an Australian-Chinese influencer pastry chef who won Season 2 of Zumbo’s Just Desserts on Netflix.

With plans to expand across multiple locations and brands, we are seeking a Pastry Chef to join our team and contribute to creating innovative, delicious desserts.

Role Overview 

As a Pastry Chef, you will be responsible to produce high-quality desserts, maintain consistency, and ensure smooth kitchen operations. You will be responsible for preparing a variety of desserts, managing ingredients, and following food safety standards. This role also involves collaborating with the Senior Pastry Chef to ensure seamless coordination in the kitchen.

Key Responsibilities 

1. Pastry Production & Operations

* Prepare a variety of desserts, ensuring they meet quality and presentation standards.
* Maintain consistency in all products according to recipes and guidelines.
* Assist in daily kitchen operations to ensure smooth and efficient workflow.
* Assist with opening or closing the kitchen as needed.

2. Ingredient Management

* Monitor ingredient inventory and communicate supply needs promptly.
* Ensure proper storage and handling of ingredients to maintain freshness and quality.

3. Team Collaboration

* Work closely with the Senior Pastry Chef and kitchen staff to coordinate production schedules.
* Collaborate with team members to brainstorm and develop new dessert ideas.

4. Food Safety & Hygiene

* Adhere to all food safety and hygiene standards.
* Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace at all times.
* Ensure all kitchen equipment is operated and maintained properly.

Working Hours and Availability

This is a part-time role requiring approximately 20-24 hours per week, ideally spread over 3-4 days. Full 8-hour shifts are not required. Some weekend availability is preferred, but working every weekend is not mandatory. Scheduling will be coordinated with the Senior Pastry Chef and the Store Manager. The first day on the job is January 16, 2025, and will include 2 to 2.5 weeks of paid training.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $21.23 - $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 24 per week
